(166) You Just Never Know
Nothing is as easily as it seems when it comes to pets and dogs in particular. Max has gone from not hungry to …well not good. Brad is going to call the Veterinarian’s office tomorrow. We thought that we could just wait it out, in fact, my sister who has been mentoring us in this challenge sent us an article that says that diarrhea is common to dog and that dogs often have diarrhea to purge their system when they eat things that aren’t good for them . Think sticks, and rocks and bark. That seems more like Beeker’s dietary cuisine than Max’s. Max seems like he wants to eat and he has enough energy to play with Beeker but he still is not processing his food. Newfoundlands’ are notorious for their high threshold of pain so we can’t really tell if he is in pain or not. We will hopefully find out what is going on with his system. After a day of fasting we will add chicken to his rice. I have to say that we are feeling so sad about Max’s situation. He has some blood in his stool that can be a result of stress, or any one of the other conditions that we have discussed earlier. Heat, diet, ulcer, or disease. We don’t want to jump the gun about what is going on with him but also want to be prepared for whatever is coming our way. Max’s heredity is not really known to us and if you look at him you know that his breeding was not a priority, but he is now a great loyal pet and housemate to Beeker. So for now I can say that we don’t really know what is going on with Max but hopefully by tomorrow night we will have talked to the Veterinarian and have some idea what our options are. We love this dog and hope that we will be able to get through this challenge as well.
The picture is of Max and Beeker this evening waiting for their favorite snack, an ice cube.
